Utility Billing Allowance Resident Letter
Back
September 26,2011
Dear Residents,
Energy conservation efforts for Nellis Family Housing residents will begin in October 2011. All homes have been metered and monitored for gas and electric usage for the past few years. Data compiled over this period was used to calculate each floorplan’s Baseline Utility Allowance. Ten percent was added to the Baseline Utility Allowance in order to determine your Utility Allowance shown above.
Nellis Family Housing will continue to collect full BAH from your pay. Your Utility Allowance is part of your BAH. Each month, you will receive a utility bill (SAMPLE BILLS CAN BE SEEN IN THE PHOTO GALLERY) reflecting your total usage minus your Utility Allowance. A $50 over/under buffer is included in your bill. A refund will be issued to you as a check once the credit balance reaches $50. Payment will not be due until you exceed $50 in charges. Payments can be made to the remittance address on your statement. It is your responsibility to monitor and budget your Utility Allowance.
In order for residents to become accustomed to Utility Billing, a “Mock Billing Period” will be implemented beginning October 1, 2011. You will receive a monthly “mock” utility bill for 3 months which allows you to make adjustments to your utility usage and become accustomed to the billing process.
Nellis Family Housing will use a third-party meter reading service to read meters, inform residents of energy saving tips and provide utility statements showing consumption and baseline data. These third-party consultants are experts in energy billing and will manage the process in the most fair and equitable way.
You are not responsible for water or sewer costs or utilities consumed in common areas or vacant houses. The Utility Billing Program involves metering of gas and electricity only.
Town Hall meetings have been scheduled for Thursday, September 29, 2011 and Monday, October 3, 2011 from 5pm to 6pm at the Base Theater to allow residents to gather more information and ask questions. Mini meetings are also scheduled at the Welcome Center at 11:30am and 5:30pm on October 4th through October 7th. Should you not be able to attend a meeting, please call our office to make an appointment to further discuss any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Susan Breckon
